The Anambra State Police Command has refuted circulating social media claims regarding the purported killing of 21 soldiers within the state. SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the spokesperson of the Anambra Command, issued a statement on Wednesday, urging the public to disregard these reports.
Ikenga, in a statement released to journalists in Akwa, emphasized that the misinformation stemmed from mischievous sources. He clarified that there is no factual basis to the claims and that the alleged location where the bodies were said to be kept does not exist in Akwa.
Categorically dismissing the reports as both misleading and false, Ikenga labeled them as deliberate fabrications aimed at instigating tension within the state. He asserted that after thorough investigation, the Command found no evidence to support such an incident.
“The Command wishes to state that the report is untrue, a product of fiction, and the handiwork of mischief makers,” Ikenga affirmed. He further cautioned that the Police Command would employ the necessary cyber laws against those responsible for spreading such misinformation.
