The Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, has pledged to support the recruitment of Abia youths into the Nigerian Army, despite calls from the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) for Igbo youths to avoid joining and instead focus on farming.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

IPOB had alleged that Igbo recruits are often deployed to dangerous conflict zones, like the Boko Haram-affected areas in the North, due to what they perceive as ethnic bias within the Army.

However, Otti, represented by his Chief of Staff, Caleb Ajagba, assured that his government would establish the necessary structures to ensure that Abia youths eligible for recruitment are properly sensitized and mobilized. He emphasized that the initiative would help integrate Abia youths into the broader mission of the Nigerian Army and contribute to national security.

He further pledged that efforts to spread awareness about the recruitment would be regular and well-coordinated. Otti also expressed his admiration for the Nigerian Army’s efforts to ensure better integration of the South-East region into the Army and commended the professionalism displayed by the institution.
