In a Facebook post shared on Friday, April 3, Onovo explained that the product, locally referred to as “akwa agbara agba,” contains about five eggs and is sold for around ₦500 per pack.

He expressed worry about the hygiene and safety of such a practice, noting that eggshells naturally protect against bacteria. According to him, seeing eggs sold this way was surprising, as he initially found it hard to believe such a thing existed until he witnessed it himself.

Onovo also described how he visited the market with his wife to purchase food items when he noticed the eggs being sold in this unusual form. He said he had to buy a pack to confirm and share his experience, adding that the situation raises questions about affordability, hygiene, and overall food safety.
