The terrorists, arriving in several Hilux trucks armed with anti-aircraft guns, invaded the area. Some of them used motorcycles, while others attacked the troops on foot in Monguno town at Charlie 6 location.

However, the Nigerian Army successfully forced the terrorists to retreat from the area after a confrontation.

In a separate development, over 100 troops conducted a raid on bandit hideouts in Iche, Taka-Lafiya, Gidan Makeri, and Janjala communities in Kagarko LGA, Kaduna.

The bandits, who had been fleeing the far north, were attempting to set up camps in some villages within Kagarko. Upon the arrival of the troops, the bandits escaped into the forest, leaving their hideouts behind.

Nigerian Army spokesperson, Onyema Nwachukwu, confirmed the developments, stating that the troops had carried out operations in the Kagarko area on Wednesday.

The Nigerian Army has recently intensified efforts in combatting terrorists in various parts of the country, especially in the Northern region of Nigeria.
