Its Plenty: APC Battling The Odds Against Oshiomhole’s Generosity As Edo Elections Take Centre Stage
If I were Oshiomhole, this would be the anthem resonating with me as the APC in Edo State faces a critical juncture. It’s time for the esteemed senator to unwind, embrace a relaxed demeanor, and prioritize the welfare of the masses, a principle he has consistently upheld.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Inspired by Burna Boy, the influential African artist, this song encapsulates the essence of Oshiomhole’s leadership amidst challenges and criticisms. Amidst the political turmoil and personal attacks, it’s crucial for Oshiomhole to maintain his focus on serving the people, disregarding the distracting competition for leadership.
It’s disheartening to witness certain APC members, linked to influential politicians from Edo South, making it their mission to discredit Oshiomhole, almost as if his leadership position within the party is under scrutiny. What’s even more regrettable is that these very individuals from Edo South, whom Oshiomhole fervently supported, are now seemingly changing their tune, portraying Oshiomhole in a negative light.
In Edo South, supporting the APC during campaigns often results in public rejection, and even during the previous general elections, aspirants from Edo South hesitated to campaign for the APC’s presidential candidate.
Instead, they would urge voters to support them for specific positions while endorsing Peter Obi for the presidential role, demonstrating a reluctance to openly advocate for Tinubu. Adams Oshiomhole, standing alone as a formidable force from Edo North, ventured into the streets of Benin, actively engaging with people in markets, motor parks, and diverse communities such as the Hausa and Yoruba settlements for Tinubu’s presidency.
He boldly advocated for Tinubu’s cause during his campaign endeavors, establishing an impressive standard. In contrast, apart from Dennis Idahosa from Edo South, no other aspirant exhibited such courage in openly mobilizing support for the APC across various levels of elections.
Now listen to this verse on this song , ” Up ’til now I don’t understandWhy no matter what I do … Cause if it’s not enoughIf I do 99 good e go remain 1…Don’t know how to show you my love without f**king up”
He exerted considerable pressure on the Buhari administration to secure appointments for Edo sons and daughters in prominent positions, overcoming significant challenges. Notably, he successfully advocated for the appointment of an Edo man as the NDDC chairman, despite opposition from Obaseki and some fellow APC members.
In my opinion, Oshiomhole should now take a break and enjoy life while continuing to assist his people, constituents, and subjects like us. Reflecting on the past general elections, it raises the question of how many of his counterparts were able to deliver their wards and constituents for the APC.
Given the circumstances, the best course for Adams Oshiomhole might be to focus on serving his people at the Senate and contributing to the welfare of Nigerians on a broader scale. It may be wise for him to let go of the stress and potential betrayals that the upcoming Edo elections could entail.
An African proverb wisely suggests that those seeking honey should be prepared to face the bees. In the context of the upcoming elections, it is essential for the leaders of the state APC, under the guidance of their chairman Jarret Tenebe, to exhibit boldness and courage in securing votes for the party throughout the state.
Considering the critique directed at Oshiomhole for not adopting a neutral stance during the primaries, it becomes imperative for him to maintain impartiality in the general elections. The principle of fairness should apply universally, signifying that what is deemed suitable for one should also be deemed suitable for the other.
As Oshiomhole’s alleged transgression lies in supporting a specific aspirant during the primaries, it is suggested that he refrains from such involvement during the general elections. Adopting a neutral position allows him to step back while the APC strives to secure victory in Edo State.
