The report emphasized the importance for all prospective JAMB candidates to strictly adhere to the guidelines, processes, and procedures outlined by the examination body.
The panel’s report presented detailed evidence, including dates, times, and other relevant information regarding how the teenager accessed and manipulated her JAMB result. It documented the various interactions between Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma and JAMB, highlighting discrepancies in her requests and the responses received from the examination body.
During an interactive session, JAMB officials, led by Dr. Fabian Benjamin, Head of Public Affairs, presented comprehensive details of JAMB admissions processes, policy changes in UTME score release since 2021, and specific events involving Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma and her quest for her JAMB score.
According to JAMB, the candidate had repeatedly requested her results through the JAMB portal, receiving consistent scores each time. However, Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma submitted a different registration number showing an aggregate score of 362, significantly higher than her actual result. JAMB officials confirmed that her submitted results deviated from the standard JAMB format, and several red flags were identified, including discrepancies in her date of birth, registration number, and outdated notification of results template.
Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma admitted, in the presence of her principal and the Education Secretary, that the account provided by JAMB officials accurately described the events. She confessed to manipulating her UTME results independently, using the same Airtel phone number. She further revealed that she visited a cybercafe (Prisca Global Computers, Uruagu, Nnewi) to print the manipulated results.
Despite thorough inquiry into her motives, Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma remained silent. The principal of Anglican Girls’ Secondary School, Uruagu Nnewi, and the Education Secretary of the Diocese of Nnewi (Anglican Communion) expressed shock at the revelation, as Mmesoma confessed to deceiving the school, her immediate family, and the state government.
The panel’s comprehensive investigation shed light on the circumstances surrounding the controversial JAMB result, revealing the actions and admissions of Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma. The report serves as a testament to the importance of integrity and adherence to established examination procedures, reaffirming the need for transparency and accountability in educational assessments.
