During a recent interview with comedian Teju Babyface, Jaywon reflected on his time at Kennis Music, where he encountered several issues with Abdulkareem. Describing Abdulkareem as a “bully,” Jaywon emphasized that he believes Abdulkareem lacks the authority to criticize Burna Boy.
Jaywon stated, “Many may know Eedris, but I truly know him. We were both signed to Kennis Music and encountered several issues. Eedris cannot be the one to call out Burna Boy. Various individuals may do so, but not Eedris. Because the behavior Burna Boy exhibits now, individuals like Eedris initiated it. Eedris is known to be a bully. Anyone acquainted with him can attest to this. While he may exhibit kindness at times, he is not in a position to reprimand Burna Boy.”
The singer continued, revealing a harrowing encounter where Abdulkareem and his associates physically assaulted him following a concert. Jaywon recalled being attacked on a bus, with his assailants kicking him relentlessly. The altercation escalated to the point where Jaywon was knocked down and reportedly rendered unconscious.
Jaywon also criticized Burna Boy’s assertion that no Nigerian artist paved the way for him, labeling it as “absurd.” He argued that such a statement disregards the contributions of earlier generations and sets a problematic precedent for future artists.
