In a statement released on Sunday, Jibrin dismissed ongoing speculation suggesting he may run for either the Kano South Senatorial seat or the Kano governorship, stating that such reports are unfounded.
“Let me once again categorically state for the record: I have no interest in running for the Kano South Senatorial seat or for governor in 2027,” he declared.
Currently serving his fourth term in the National Assembly, Jibrin said he considers the continued public speculation around his political ambitions as flattering and a testament to the influence of his service.
He reflected on his extensive political career, having been elected under multiple party banners and occupying prominent roles in the House, including: Chairman of the Finance, Appropriations, Transportation, and Foreign Affairs Committees. He now heads the Committee on Housing and Habitat and has also served as Executive Director at the Federal Housing Authority (FHA).
“Those who know me understand that in any space I operate—politics, business, or academia—I bring total commitment to results,” he affirmed.
Describing himself as “modestly ambitious,” Jibrin stressed that he derives satisfaction from uplifting his community and enabling others to succeed.
“My true fulfillment comes from contributing to my constituency and witnessing others grow, by the grace of God,” he added.
