Jonathan Has Never Told Me He’ll Run In 2027 — Wike Breaks Silence On Ex-President’s Rumoured Comeback

Wike made the clarification during a media parley with journalists in Abuja on Friday.

He said, “You’re the one telling me that. Jonathan has never told me anything of such. He has never called me to say, ‘Look, I’m being pressured to run, what’s your opinion?’ If he does, I’ll tell him exactly what I think.

“I won’t believe every story just because it appears in the newspapers — just like when you said I was flown out of the country. That doesn’t make it true.”

Wike also denied having any involvement in the reported emergence of Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN) as the consensus candidate for the position of National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“I’m not aware of Tanimu Turaki becoming chairman. Maybe he’ll be chairman of another faction, but certainly not the PDP I know,” he said.

Recently, Northern PDP stakeholders endorsed Turaki as their consensus choice ahead of the party’s national convention scheduled for November 15–16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Speaking further, the FCT Minister dismissed the planned PDP convention as illegal, adding that he had no intention of attending.

“How do you expect me to attend a convention that I know, by law, shouldn’t even hold?” Wike asked.
