Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party had contested the election results, filing 21 grounds of appeal on October 7, 2023, challenging the State Governorship Tribunal’s decision that affirmed Sanwo-Olu’s re-election.
The three-man panel, consisting of Justice Yargata Nimpa, Justice Samuel Bola, and Justice Paul Bassey, delivered the judgment, affirming the tribunal’s verdict on the re-election of both Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Deputy, Obafemi Hamzat. The Court of Appeal further dismissed the appeal filed by Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, cementing the victory of Sanwo-Olu and his deputy in the state. This decision solidifies the mandate given to Sanwo-Olu by the people of Lagos, bringing legal clarity and finality to the electoral process.
