Julius Berger Dominates Again – Bags Quality Assured Construction Firm Of The Year!

Julius Berger Nigeria Plc has been honoured with the Quality Assured Construction Company of the Year Award. The recognition was presented at the 11th Nigeria Transport Lecture and Awards held in Lagos. During the event, Frank Kintum, Editor-in-Chief of Transport Day Newspaper and organiser of the ceremony, praised Julius Berger as a standout performer in construction excellence. He noted that despite operating in a fiercely competitive industry, the company consistently delivers projects with world-class expertise.

Kintum remarked passionately, “Without mincing words, Julius Berger’s hallmark projects are visible across Nigeria. The moment you drive on a Julius Berger-constructed road, you can instantly recognize the difference — the standard, quality, and class are unmistakable and remain enjoyable for many years.”

Amidst repeated applause from a hall filled with top stakeholders in the transport sector, the Transport Day Editor-in-Chief declared that the Awards Screening Committee was fully convinced that Julius Berger was deserving of the Quality Assured Construction Company of the Year Award. He emphasized that such recognition should serve both as praise and motivation for the company to keep setting the pace, while also encouraging others in the industry to raise their standards. He hailed Julius Berger’s consistent excellence, saying it makes the company stand out in Nigeria’s construction landscape.

The Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, presented the award to Mr. Thomas Christl, the Regional Technical Manager (Region West) of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc. Aligning with Kintum’s remarks, Opeifa applauded the company for its high-quality road construction projects, stressing that Julius Berger’s commitment to prompt delivery and durable infrastructure is significantly aiding the country’s transportation system. He acknowledged the firm as a leader in infrastructure development in Nigeria, maintaining that Julius Berger remains a trailblazer in the nation’s construction industry.

In response, Christl expressed gratitude to the event organisers, thanking them for recognising JBN’s work. He reaffirmed the company’s dedication to maintaining its world-class standards, stating that Julius Berger will continue turning on-site challenges into real opportunities that benefit communities and the nation.

The annual Nigeria Transport Lecture serves as a gathering point for stakeholders from both the public and private sectors of the transport industry. It provides a platform for addressing current issues and brainstorming lasting solutions to the challenges confronting the sector.

As guest speaker, Dr. Opeifa focused his lecture on evolving transportation models and the pressing challenges facing the sector. He proposed solutions, including the need for long-term strategies and policy reforms. Notably, he advocated for transitioning to gas-powered and electric buses. He also stressed the importance of designing roads with designated parking spaces to reduce traffic congestion — a major issue, especially in states like Lagos.

Among the dignitaries present at the event were the Lagos State Governor’s representative, Chief Vehicle Inspection Officer Akin George Fashola; Assistant Corps Marshal Ann Oladayo, Commanding Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (Lagos and Ogun States); and Professor Charles Asinime, Dean of the Lagos State University School of Transport and Logistics.
