Cristiano Ronaldo has moved closer to the historic 1,000-goal milestone after taking his career tally in official matches to 982 with a goal in Al Nassr’s 3-1 away victory over Al Faysaly in the Saudi Pro League.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the 41-year-old Portuguese forward is now just 18 goals away from reaching the landmark, which would further cement his status as one of football’s most prolific goalscorers.

Ronaldo scored Al Nassr’s second goal of the encounter following an assist from fellow Portuguese international João Félix. Al Hamdan and Angelo also found the net for the visitors, while Bongonda scored Al Faysaly’s only goal.

The strike increased Ronaldo’s tally for the current season to six goals, with five coming in the Saudi Pro League and one in the Asian Champions League.

Figures provided indicate that Ronaldo has scored 836 goals at club level in 1,109 appearances, alongside 146 goals in 234 matches for Portugal’s national team.

His club record includes 450 goals for Real Madrid, 145 for Manchester United, 135 for Al Nassr, 101 for Juventus and five for Sporting Lisbon.

With his scoring form continuing at 41, attention is increasingly focused on whether the five-time Ballon d’Or winner can reach the extraordinary 1,000-goal mark.
