The court stipulated that both sureties must reside within the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, with their residential addresses subject to verification by the court’s registrar. Additionally, one of the sureties is required to hold a director-level position within the Federal Civil Service.

Ishaku was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on charges related to an alleged N27 billion fraud. During the proceedings, Justice Oriji prohibited Ishaku and his co-defendant, Bello Hero, from leaving the country without prior permission from the court.

The EFCC’s counsel, Rotimi Jacobs, did not contest the bail application, noting that the anti-graft agency had previously granted the ex-governor administrative bail, which he complied with and did not violate.

Following the ruling, Justice Oriji scheduled the trial to commence on November 4, 5, and 13.

Darius Ishaku served as the governor of Taraba State in Nigeria’s North-East region from May 2015 until May 2023, representing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
