The statement from IPOB addressed the police’s narrative, stating, “The global family of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, ably led by our unbroken and never-say-die leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, wishes to debunk the Nigerian Police’s incoherent and disjointed story of IPOB’s involvement in the alleged murder of the kidnapped Imo State monarch.”

According to the police, some individuals from the community suggested that IPOB members might be responsible for the traditional ruler’s murder. The police further claimed that the deceased monarch had been approached by a resident named Chidiebere, who sought refuge from alleged threats by IPOB members.

IPOB, however, strongly denied any connection to the incident, challenging the credibility of the police’s account. The group’s statement raises doubts about the police’s narrative, emphasizing that the accusations against IPOB are unfounded.
