Naija News recalls that this reinstatement comes just 24 hours after Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State reappointed him as Emir, following the signing into law of a bill that abolished the five emirates created by the administration of Abdullahi Ganduje.

Sanusi had previously received his appointment letter confirming his position as the Emir of Kano.

The event at the Art Chamber of the Kano State Government House was attended by Governor Abba Yusuf, traditional rulers, kingmakers, and other dignitaries.

Sanusi was reinstated to the throne four years after being deposed by Ganduje’s government.

The new law replaces the Kano State Emirates Council Law of 2019 and dissolves the emirate councils created by Ganduje. This law had been used to split the Kano Emirate into five parts in December 2019 and to depose Sanusi on March 9, 2020. The emirates created by Ganduje included Karaye, Bichi, Rano, and Gaya, alongside Kano.
