JUST IN: Trump Labels Nigeria ‘Country Of Particular Concern’ Over Christian Genocide Claim
United States President Donald Trump has officially designated Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern (CPC)” over what he described as the ongoing genocide of Christians in the country.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a post shared on Truth Social on Friday, October 31, 2025, Trump claimed that radical Islamist groups are behind the widespread killings of Christians in Nigeria and urged immediate U.S. congressional action.
Trump stated that America will not sit idly by while such atrocities continue in Nigeria and other troubled nations, directing Congressman Riley Moore and House Appropriations Committee Chairman Tom Cole to investigate the matter and report back to him.
“Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria. Thousands of Christians are being killed by radical Islamists. I am hereby declaring Nigeria a ‘Country of Particular Concern.’
When Christians—or any group—are slaughtered like this, something must be done. The United States cannot stand by while these atrocities continue in Nigeria and elsewhere. We stand ready to defend our great Christian population around the world,” Trump wrote.
By placing Nigeria on the CPC list, Washington has signaled that it views the situation as grave enough to warrant diplomatic and potentially economic consequences.
The Nigerian government, however, has rejected the genocide claims, describing them as misleading and asserting that terrorism in the country affects all Nigerians regardless of religion.
Analysts say the move could further strain Nigeria–U.S. relations, as the CPC designation opens the door for sanctions or other forms of international pressure.
For Nigeria—already battling multiple security crises—Trump’s declaration adds a new layer of global scrutiny and diplomatic tension.
