A WhatsApp conversation involving the suspected killer of Christianah Idowu, a 300-level student from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has emerged online.
According to reports, Christianah left her home in Itaoluwo, Ikorodu, en route to the University of Lagos for her industrial training but was abducted along the Ikorodu-Yaba road on August 19, 2024.
The alleged abductor, identified as Adeleye Ayomide, a friend of the victim, initially contacted her family, demanding a ransom of N3 million for her release.
Following pleas from the family, the abductor accepted a reduced ransom of N350,000 but still did not free Christianah.
Adeleye, a 200-level Philosophy student at Olabisi Onabanjo University, was eventually apprehended after intelligence officials traced him through the BVN and account details used to collect the ransom.
Upon interrogation, he confessed to murdering Christianah and burying her body in his family’s compound in Ikorodu.
In the WhatsApp chat, Adeleye pretended to be unaware of Christianah’s abduction, expressing concern and even shock when informed that her kidnappers had demanded a N3 million ransom.
Screenshots of the conversation between Adeleye and another friend have since surfaced online.
