In the statement, Hassan commended the police’s continued efforts in combating crime within the state. The incident transpired on January 17, 2024, at 20:30 hours when officers from the Divisional Police Headquarters Tudun Wada, Zaria, engaged in Tactical Operation Duty (TOD), intercepted Musa Yusuf, who was traveling on a commercial motorcycle with a suspicious handbag.
Upon disembarking from the motorcycle, Yusuf attempted to flee but was pursued and apprehended by the vigilant police officers. A subsequent search of his handbag revealed the discovery of 202 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm live ammunition. Initial investigations unveiled that Yusuf was acting on behalf of a bandit known as Emir in the Zurmi forest. His mission involved receiving the ammunition at Bakin Kogi in Kauru LGA of Kaduna State and delivering it to the said bandit.
Although Yusuf had successfully collected the ammunition, the timely intervention of the Tudun Wada Zaria Division officers thwarted his delivery plans. The ongoing investigation aims to identify and apprehend Yusuf’s accomplices, following which charges will be filed in court.
The Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State Command, CP A.D Ali, lauded the vigilance of the involved officers and emphasized the importance of increased visibility policing. He urged operatives to dominate their respective areas of responsibility, ensuring a strong police presence that acts as a deterrent to criminals planning nefarious activities within the state.
