Kano Anti-Corruption Chief, Magaji, Suspended By CCT

The Chairman of Kano State Anti-corruption and Public Complaints Commission, Alhaji Muhuyi Magaji, has been suspended by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).

The suspension was announced in a statement issued on Thursday, April 4, in Abuja by Mrs. Veronica Kato, the Chief Press Secretary of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).

According to Kato, Magaji’s suspension stems from a 10-count corruption charge filed against him by the CCB on November 16, 2023.

In the statement, it was stated: “In delivering the ruling, the Chairman of CCT, Justice Danladi Umar, affirmed the Tribunal’s competence and jurisdiction to preside over the case.

“He (Umar) elucidated that Muhuyi Magaji cannot continue executing the duties and obligations of his office while undergoing trial, to prevent any potential interference with the proceedings.

“Therefore, the suspension is enacted pending the conclusion of the trial.”

The case has been adjourned to May 7th and 8th, 2024, for further hearing.
