Kano APC Breaks Silence: ‘Desperate Forces Trying To Wreck Tinubu-Shettima Bond
The Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused loyalists of former Governor and Senator, Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, of attempting to incite turmoil within the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
This follows a tense episode last week during the APC North-East zonal meeting, which ended in disarray and sparked controversy.
Video clips from the event showed Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, visibly upset and confronting the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, over the conduct of the meeting.
Amid the tension, Ganduje and his allies were accused of sidelining Vice President Kashim Shettima while openly supporting President Bola Tinubu’s second-term ambitions. The apparent snub provoked a wave of backlash from Shettima’s loyalists.
Prominent among them was Engr. Bashir Buba Muhammad, who, via social media, accused Ganduje of plotting to “undermine” the Vice President — likening it to the infamous Kano dollar video scandal, which he reposted as part of his criticism.
Muhammad even quoted Zulum saying, “No Kashim, no APC in the North,” intensifying speculation about growing divisions in the party.
However, the Kano APC has firmly rejected claims that Ganduje is eyeing Shettima’s seat. In a statement to Daily Post on Monday, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Ahmed S. Aruwa, stated:
“As far as we are aware, the APC National Chairman has never expressed interest in the Vice President’s position. It’s never been discussed, nor is it in his thoughts.”
Aruwa emphasized that only President Tinubu can decide on the Vice President’s future and insisted there is still time for such decisions.
He accused Kwankwaso’s supporters of exaggerating the issue, saying, “They’ve tried to find cracks within the APC, but have found none.”
