Kano Police Take Down Major Human Trafficking Operation

Babale credited the Kano State Police Command for their role in the rescue. The police arrested three suspects in connection with the case: Shafi’u Salisu, 25, from Bachirawa Quarters, Kano; Rebecca Adebayo, 22, from Kwara State; and Mujibat Olagoke, 27, from Oyo State.

The victims, all females aged between 15 and 40, were rescued on August 3 around 4:15 p.m. on the Tsanyawa Federal High Way in Kano by police from Tsanyawa Division. They were en route to Libya for labor exploitation.

The victims hail from Ondo, Ogun, Oyo, Kwara, and Imo States. Babale expressed gratitude to Kano State Commissioner of Police, Salman Dogo-Garba, for his support and confirmed that the suspects would face court charges after the investigation is complete.

The rescued individuals will receive counseling and rehabilitation before being reunited with their families. Babale urged parents to safeguard their children from exploitation and called on the public to report any suspicious trafficking activities to the relevant authorities for immediate action.
