During a press conference in Kano, Iliyasu Musa Kwankwaso stated, “I have been vindicated in my assertions that Dr. Kwankwaso aims to dominate Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf due to his desperation for the 2027 presidential race.”

His comments come amid rising concerns over Senator Kwankwaso’s influence within the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), especially as the SSG’s suspension appears to undermine Governor Yusuf’s peace initiatives.

Iliyasu Musa Kwankwaso accused Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso of misrepresenting the reasons behind the suspension, alleging that it was orchestrated by NNPP chairman Hon. Hashim Dungurawa. He urged Governor Yusuf to distance himself from Kwankwaso’s political influence to maintain his integrity.

“Dr. Kwankwaso’s actions are fueled by desperation,” he warned, advising President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to be wary of the possibility of Senator Kwankwaso defecting to the APC, which could trigger internal conflicts. He cautioned that “the suspension of the SSG is merely the tip of the iceberg,” predicting that more key figures within the NNPP, viewed as Dr. Kwankwaso’s rivals, may soon face similar consequences.
