The Kano State government recently allocated over N600 million towards the commencement of new developmental projects, underscoring its commitment to transparency and effective project implementation.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf affirmed this during the Stakeholder Dialogue Meeting on Effective Implementation of International Development Funds in Kano. The governor, represented by Chief of Staff Alhaji Shehu Sagagi, reiterated the government’s pledge to ensure prudent use of funds and timely execution of designated projects.
The meeting, themed “Ensuring Value for Money Towards Achieving International Funded Projects Deliverables in Kano,” aimed to foster trust among government bodies, stakeholders, and development partners in achieving tangible outcomes from funded projects.
Abdulkadir Abdulsalam, the Accountant General of Kano State and convener of the event, highlighted the administration’s dedication to promptly releasing counterpart resources for projects aimed at enhancing social and human development within the state.
He emphasized the significant role of international development funds, constituting about 30% of the state’s annual budget, which includes both grants and loans acquired under previous administrations. Abdulsalam stressed the importance of maximizing the utility and effectiveness of these funds while adhering to project constraints of cost, scope, and timeline.
Moving forward, Governor Yusuf assured donor agencies of the government’s commitment to addressing any discrepancies promptly, ensuring seamless project implementation and accountability.
