The Appeal Court upheld the decision of the State Election Petitions Tribunal regarding the governorship election held on March 18 in the state, which led to Governor Yusuf being removed from office.

The court declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, as the rightful winner.

In response to the judgment, Governor Yusuf, in a statement on his verified X handle (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, expressed optimism about the Supreme Court overturning what he referred to as “miscarriages of justice” by both the Tribunal and the Appeal Court.

He conveyed confidence that the apex court would reinstate their “mandate” as bestowed upon them by the people of Kano.
