Kano State Takes The Lead In The Fight Against Corruption, Governor Yusuf Affirms

During the inaugural session of a one-day symposium on combating corruption, which focused on the roles of law enforcement agencies, Yusuf made these remarks.

The event was organized by the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, in collaboration with the State Police Command, and took place at the Kano Anti-Corruption Institute.

Yusuf, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Baffa Bichi, assured that his administration would not interfere with the Commission’s activities.

He also noted that his government inherited numerous alleged corruption cases from the previous administration led by Abdullahi Ganduje.

The governor highlighted that the symposium’s purpose was to enhance collaboration between law enforcement agencies and the Commission, emphasizing the importance of enforcing the Commission’s laws.

Yusuf added, “Just yesterday, a Kano State High Court ruled in favor of the Commission, affirming its jurisdiction to investigate alleged corruption cases within the state.”

In his statement, Mr. Muhyi Magaji, the Chairman of the Commission, explained that the symposium aimed to strengthen cooperation between the Commission and law enforcement agencies to achieve their objectives. He pledged the Commission’s unwavering commitment to fighting corruption in the state.

The State’s Commissioner of Police, Mr. Usaini Gumel, affirmed the commitment of the police force and other security agencies to provide the necessary support to the Commission in its anti-corruption efforts.
