Kate Henshaw Blasts Power Minister Over Poor Electricity Supply, Demands Names Of Those Asking For Blackout

Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw has criticised the Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe, over Nigeria’s persistent electricity challenges, expressing frustration with the poor supply being experienced by residents across the country.

The actress voiced her displeasure in a post on her Instagram page, where she complained that electricity was often restored for only a few minutes before going off again.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Henshaw questioned why Nigerians were still struggling with unreliable electricity supply in 2026, despite the importance of power to households, businesses and the country’s economic activities.

The actress also challenged a statement she attributed to the minister, in which some individuals were allegedly said to have asked him to reduce or slow down electricity supply in September.

Demanding further clarification, Henshaw called on Tegbe to disclose the identities and phone numbers of those who supposedly made such requests, insisting that many Nigerians were still experiencing inadequate power supply.

In her words, “Mr. Minister of Power, no light. There is no light. There’s hardly been light. You will bring it maybe five minutes and then it’s gone.

“You were credited with a statement that in September some people were telling you that you should turn off the power. I need the names and numbers of these people that called you. They said you should turn off the lights, or you should slow down or whatever it is you imagine they told you. There’s hardly electricity in 2026.”

Henshaw further questioned the performance of those responsible for managing the country’s electricity sector, expressing disappointment that the issue remained unresolved.

She also lamented the frustration Nigerians face when speaking out about national challenges, adding that the continued power crisis had left her deeply angry.

The actress concluded her remarks with a strong criticism of the situation, calling for accountability from those responsible for providing reliable electricity to Nigerians.
