Katsina Traditional Ruler Detained On Suspicion of Collaborating With Bandits
The Katsina State Police Command has announced the arrest of Usamatu Adamu, the Village Head of Unguwan Tambai in Runka, Safana Local Government Area, for allegedly providing intelligence to bandits.
According to Naija News, the Police spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, revealed that Adamu, 45, was apprehended on October 3 based on credible intelligence. The suspect, who resides in Sabon Gida village in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, is facing charges of criminal conspiracy and kidnapping.
Sadiq-Aliyu explained that investigations linked Adamu to several kidnapping cases in Runka, Safana LGA, adding that the village head admitted his involvement. Adamu further implicated Rabe Sada, 62, and Nasiru Sha’aibu, 48, from Runka village, as his accomplices. The three are accused of providing information to Umar, a notorious bandits’ kingpin operating in Runka forest. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.
In a related development, the police spokesperson also reported the arrest of a suspect involved in the rape and attempted murder of a 16-year-old girl in Katsina. The suspect, 24-year-old Usman Mohammed-Iyal, allegedly raped the girl, who was running an errand for her mother. He then threw her into a well and tried to kill her by throwing stones. Authorities rescued the victim, who is currently receiving medical treatment, and Mohammed-Iyal was arrested. Investigations are still underway.
