Kemi Badenoch Sparks Outrage: Proposes Housing Asylum Seekers In Camps, Not Hotels
UK Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch has proposed housing migrants in “camps” rather than hotels.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to Mail Online, Badenoch made the suggestion on Monday, August 11, during a visit to Essex. She explained that some communities feel unsafe due to the presence of migrant hotels.
Speaking in Epping — a hotspot for protests against asylum seeker accommodation — Badenoch said:
“Is it possible for us to set up camps and police them, instead of bringing all this trouble into communities?”
She stressed the importance of involving locals in finding solutions, saying:
“As a party, we need to also hear from the community about what you think the solutions are. We don’t have all the answers; it’s important that the community is part of solving the problem.”
Badenoch also warned that certain areas no longer feel safe. She said many parents and children had expressed concerns about harassment linked to residents of migrant hotels.
Her visit followed weeks of demonstrations outside the Bell Hotel, where migrants are housed, after an asylum seeker was charged with allegedly trying to kiss a 14-year-old girl.
Badenoch further argued that not everyone in such facilities is a genuine asylum seeker and accused some of arriving illegally to claim welfare and benefits without contributing to the country. She reaffirmed her party’s plan to deport those who enter the UK illegally and to close loopholes that allow them to gain citizenship.
