Kenneth Okonkwo Criticizes Government’s Priorities In Food Security State Of Emergency

Renowned Nollywood actor and politician, Kenneth Okonkwo, has expressed his disapproval of President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency on food security.

The announcement came after consultations with agricultural sector stakeholders at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, as revealed by Dele Alake, Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties, Communications, and Strategy.

Immediate measures were put in place, including the release of fertilizers and grains to farmers and households to alleviate the impact of subsidy removal.

The government aims to ensure year-round food availability through coordinated efforts between the Ministry of Agriculture and water resource management.

However, Kenneth Okonkwo believes that the Federal Government has misplaced priorities. He asserts that the government should prioritize a state of emergency on the security of citizens’ lives before focusing on food security.

Taking to Twitter to voice his opinion, Okonkwo wrote, “A government that is declaring a state of emergency on food security before declaring a state of emergency on the security of lives of the producers and eaters of the food is a government that understands that placing the cart before the horse is the best order of governance.
