Keyamo Enforces Ban: VIPs Restricted From Using Local Airports For International Travel

According to an insider speaking to Cable News, numerous VIPs have adopted a strategy of requesting last-minute landings at local airports to bypass immigration and customs checks.

“Many VIPs have found ways to secure last-minute permissions to land at local airports, sometimes claiming to have arranged for customs or immigration officers to clear them upon arrival,” the source revealed. “This practice has persisted unchecked for some time, prompting the minister to take decisive action.”

Additionally, the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency’s Directorate of Air Traffic Services issued a circular on July 17, 2024, regarding these developments. Signed by Deputy General Manager S.E. Inegbedion, the circular mandated that all international flight operations must strictly adhere to conducting clearances and checks at designated international terminals. Exceptions require approval from the National Security Adviser (NSA).

Inegbedion emphasized the compulsory nature of compliance with the ministerial directive, warning of “appropriate sanctions” for any violations, although specific penalties were not detailed.
