Kidnappers Demand N100 Million Ransom Following Tragic Death Of Kwara Monarch’s Spouse And Associate

Kidnappers have demanded a ransom of N100 million for the release of the wife of the late Olukoro of Koro-Ekiti, Oba Segun Aremu, who was recently slain in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, along with another victim. According to Bayode, the suspected kidnappers reached out to the family of the deceased monarch through a beer parlour operator in the community. It is believed that the kidnappers acquired the phone number of the beer parlour operator from his female staff, who was also abducted on the same day as the late monarch’s wife.

Bayode stated, “Yes, they have contacted the family demanding N100 million ransom before they will release them. But we are still on the issue for now. That is all I can say for now. Though there is still panic in the community, the heavy presence of security has helped to calm the situation.”

Oba Aremu, a retired Army General, was tragically killed in his palace on Thursday night by the suspected kidnappers, who also kidnapped his wife and two others on the same day. It was reported that the kidnappers later released one of the abductees, an 87-year-old man, citing his old age as the reason for his release.
