In a statement issued by the command’s spokesman, ASP Ahmad Rufai, it was revealed that the police successfully dismantled a kidnapping operation, with Aliyu as the primary suspect.

Rufai reported that the anti-kidnapping unit received a report regarding the abduction and launched a coordinated intelligence-led operation. The suspect had contacted the child’s parents, demanding a ransom of ₦2 million. In fear for their child’s safety, the parents paid ₦500,000 before the child was released.

Detectives tracked Aliyu to Badon Hanya, near the Zamson filling station, leading to his arrest. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime, stating that he had kidnapped the child to extort money from his parents. A Tecno Android mobile phone used to demand the ransom was also recovered.

Rufai confirmed that the suspect, who has admitted to the offense, will be charged in court once the investigation is complete.
