Governor Ododo emphasized the administration’s proactive measures to counteract the recent surge in criminal activities in Kogi State. He remarked, “My administration is confronting the wave of criminality that has besieged our dear state over the past month.”

He noted that the increased military operations against insurgents, bandits, and kidnappers in the North-East have displaced many criminals, pushing them into the North-Central region. “In response, the Kogi government is implementing stringent measures to protect the state from these criminal elements,” Ododo said.

The governor highlighted the successful rescue of 21 out of 24 kidnapped students from Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), underscoring Kogi’s resolve to combat crime ruthlessly. Additionally, he reported the recent liberation of two kidnapped women from Yagba West and Yagba East Local Government Areas.

Ododo also mentioned the rescue of numerous kidnapped individuals who were abducted outside Kogi State but taken to forests within the state. He assured the public that efforts are ongoing to find the remaining three CUSTECH students, stating, “Every citizen’s life is important to the government.”

To bolster the state’s security, Ododo announced the immediate recruitment of thousands of local hunters across the 21 local government areas. “Their primary mission is to pursue these criminals and dismantle their hideouts, which is already yielding positive results,” he explained.

He further detailed the collaborative efforts of the army, police, DSS, NSCDC, Metropolitan Response Squad, and hunters group in conducting simultaneous operations in Lokoja and across the state’s three senatorial districts, including border areas.

Governor Ododo disclosed that he has quietly declared a war on criminals, mobilizing resources and forces to ensure the defeat of these adversaries. He expressed deep gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his support and encouragement in making Kogi a crime-free state.

“Our administration is tirelessly working to safeguard everyone, demonstrating to criminals that Kogi is not a haven for their activities,” Ododo asserted. He urged residents to contribute to the state’s security by providing intelligence to the security agencies.

“The criminals are alarmed, and they will face justice. We are fully committed to winning this war against criminality,” he concluded. “We encourage all residents to assist by sharing information with the security forces to ensure the effective security of our dear state.”
