Fanwo emphasized that Governor Usman Ododo’s administration is committed to the swift and compliant completion of this vital infrastructure project. The airport aims to serve Kogi State and ten neighboring states, alleviating traffic on the busy Lokoja-Abuja road.

“The Ododo Administration prioritizes establishing an international airport to position Kogi as an aviation hub,” Fanwo stated. He highlighted the state’s strategic location as a key advantage for tapping into the aviation market.

The project is expected to boost the local economy, create jobs, and elevate Kogi’s presence on the global stage. The governor is focused on recruiting top industry talent to ensure the project’s success, noting that aviation requires trust and adherence to standards.

Fanwo expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Aviation Minister for their historic approval, which he believes will further enhance Kogi State’s development. He added that the airport will also include cargo capacity, which is a significant aspect of the initiative.

Assuring Kogi residents, Fanwo stated that the Ododo administration will continue to undertake impactful projects to build on the successes of the past eight years. He also mentioned that Zariagi is a strategic location with an existing airstrip, and the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development team was pleased with the site and the state government’s plans.
