Ajaka was reportedly assaulted by suspected hoodlums shortly after the court upheld the election of Usman Ododo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the state’s duly elected governor.

During the incident, Ajaka was beaten and doused with water while his team struggled to protect him and secure his escape.

In a statement released on Sunday by the state’s Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, the government described the attack as “unwarranted” and unacceptable.

Ododo also denounced the attackers’ actions, labeling them as “barbaric, uncivilized, and a grave threat to the integrity of the justice system.” He called on Nigerians to avoid taking the law into their own hands.

“As a government, we urge law enforcement agencies to identify and prosecute those responsible, ensuring they face the full consequences of their actions. This will serve as a deterrent and help maintain the safety and integrity of our courts nationwide.

“We also call on all Nigerians to support the principles of constitutionalism and unity, which are central to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. It is imperative that we all back his visionary policies and values for the progress and development of our nation,” he added.
