Kwankwaso Denounces Power-Sharing Rumors With Atiku And Peter Obi: ‘Respected Elders Are Spreading Lies

Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has vehemently denied reports of any agreement with the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and Labour Party (LP) candidate, Peter Obi, to share power through alternating terms.

In an interview with the BBC, Kwankwaso expressed his outrage over the claims, labeling them as baseless lies.

He stated that while he had heard reports of Atiku’s camp meeting with regional leaders, including clerics, to spread this narrative, he had no knowledge of such an agreement.

The former Kano State governor emphasized his contentment since leaving the PDP for the NNPP and categorically distanced himself from the alleged power-sharing deal.

“This issue deeply angers me,” Kwankwaso said. “Hearing that respected elders are spreading lies about something that never happened is unacceptable. I was informed that nearly 45 clerics were assembled and told this fabricated story. I did not appreciate this at all.

“They claimed I agreed to a deal where Atiku would serve four years, I would serve another four, and Peter Obi would serve eight years. This is completely false. Such an agreement never existed.

“Lies and deceit like this are exactly why we left. Myself, Peter Obi, Wike, and others all left. Now they are coming back, asking us to support those who humiliated us in achieving their goals.”
