In an official statement released on Sunday, the party’s spokesperson, Olusegun Olusola Adewara, voiced deep concern about the escalating insecurity levels within Kwara communities. Adewara highlighted the alarming trend, indicating that the state is steadily losing its reputation as a peaceful and stable region.
The PDP raised questions about the utilization of the state’s substantial security budget and urged Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to promptly engage seasoned security experts. The aim is to collaborate on devising effective strategies to tackle the mounting security challenges afflicting the state.
Adewara emphasized, “The brutal killing of Oba Segun Aremu and the abduction of his wife and other family members by unidentified gunmen serve as a stark reminder of the worsening security situation in our state.” Expressing sorrow and shock over the incident, the party extended heartfelt condolences to the Koro community, Ekiti people, and the traditional institution in Kwara.
In a show of solidarity, the PDP pledged support to the Koro community, both locally and internationally, during this trying period. The party called on security agencies to intensify efforts to safely rescue the abducted individuals and ensure that those responsible for this heinous act face swift justice.
