In a commendable fulfillment of a promise made by Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, six public school students who emerged victorious in the presidential debate competition in Abuja received N6 million cheques each. Expressing his congratulations to the students and their parents, Governor AbdulRazaq affirmed the government’s commitment to monitor their educational progress closely. He emphasized the state’s dedication to creating a conducive learning environment for all Kwara children and disclosed plans to allocate billions of naira to educational and hygiene programs, including AGILE and WASH, to enhance learning and ensure pupil safety.

Governor AbdulRazaq further pledged substantial investments this year to enhance educational curriculum and infrastructure across schools in the state. He urged teachers and parents to continue supporting the students and emphasized the importance of fostering patriotism to the state and the nation.

The governor expressed gratitude to the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) for its remarkable improvement and assured continued support for the agency. Traditional institutions were also acknowledged for their support, with a call for ongoing engagement and suggestions to improve service delivery in the education sector.

The ceremony witnessed the presence of government officials, traditional chiefs, and parents of the winning team. Chairman of the House Committee on Education, Hon. Baba Muhammed Boriya; Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu; and other dignitaries attended the event.

Prof Sheu Raheem Adaramaja, Chairman of Kwara SUBEB, expressed gratitude for the governor’s commitment and assured that the debate champions would bring home another trophy in upcoming competitions. The Lucky Six is set to represent Nigeria at the World School Debate Championship in the Republic of Serbia in Europe later this year.

Parents and guardians expressed their appreciation for the governor’s vision and ongoing efforts to impact the educational sector positively. Dr. Jato Muhammad Awal, speaking on behalf of parents, commended Governor AbdulRazaq’s broad vision and expressed gratitude for the transformative programs and investments in education, concluding with a prayer for continued blessings.
