Adamu had initially reached an agreement with Gyang Zi, the party’s candidate for the Plateau North Senatorial District in the last general elections. Although Adamu was initially granted the party’s ticket to contest the Senate seat for Plateau North, he later agreed to step aside for Zi.

However, following a recent Appeal Court judgment ordering a rerun in Plateau North, Adamu is now claiming to be the legitimate party candidate, asserting that his name appears on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal.

The Labour Party accused Adamu of collaborating with the opposition to create unnecessary conflict within the party, leading to his expulsion.

The party clarified that the decision resulted from a thorough investigation, finding Adamu guilty of working against the party’s interests.

“The leadership of the party has been following your anti-party activities, which include colluding with opponents against the interest of the party.

You have been circulating false information about Gyang Zi, our candidate for Plateau North in the last general elections and the forthcoming rerun elections. Your action is a gross misconduct, and you are hereby expelled forthwith from the party,” emphasized the letter.
