A tragic incident occurred in Igumale Ward 1, Ado Local Government Area of Benue State, where the Labour Party Chairman, Mr. Sunday Oche, was reportedly killed by suspected armed herdsmen.

The attack happened while Mr. Oche was returning from his farm, accompanied by five others. The group was ambushed by the assailants, resulting in the fatal shooting of Mr. Oche. Fortunately, the five others with him managed to escape, though they sustained serious injuries.

The Benue State Labour Party Publicity Secretary, Tersoo Orbunde, confirmed the unfortunate event, noting that Mr. Oche’s body has been recovered and preparations are underway for his burial.

“He was a Ward Chairman from Igumale, Sunday Oche. He had gone to his cassava farm when he was attacked and killed. The corpse has been brought back,” Orbunde stated.

He added, “Our team has visited the family to offer condolences, and we are coordinating with them on burial arrangements. The matter has been reported to the police for further investigation.”
