Lagos Government Shuts Down Mosque And Other Buildings For Environmental Violations

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has shut down multiple establishments across various areas, including Alausa Ikeja, Ogba, Surulere, Sabo Yaba, Ebute Metta, and Shomolu, due to violations of environmental laws.

This action was announced via a post on the Agency’s X account on Thursday, September 5.

The post detailed LASEPA’s increased efforts to tackle noise and other environmental violations. The establishments affected include 12 Meals Lounge, Bel Papyrus, Grand Hyatt, Oluwatoyin Mosque, MultiStyle Supermarket, Special Bread Bakery, and Understanding Bar. These businesses were found to be in breach of environmental regulations despite previous warnings.

LASEPA’s General Manager, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to strict enforcement. “We will not tolerate non-compliance with our regulations,” Dr. Ajayi stated. “All businesses must acknowledge their environmental responsibilities and work with the State government to ensure a cleaner, quieter, and more sustainable Lagos.”
