The founder of iReign Christian Ministry, Feyi Daniels, was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence court on Friday for the alleged rape of a church member. In his defense during the trial, Bishop Daniels, who took the witness stand, claimed that three out of the four women accusing him of sexual assault had conspired against him. The prosecution’s lead counsel, Babajide Boye, cross-examined the defendant, attempting to establish a ‘personal relationship’ between Bishop Daniels and the four women.
Boye asserted that the defendant had counseled one of the women, provided N100,000 for hospital treatment to another, paid school fees for a third, and had a connection with the fourth as a leader in the campus fellowship associated with his ministry in Akungba-Akobo, Ondo State. However, Bishop Daniels denied giving money for treatment to one of the women, stating, “I believe all three ladies turned against me, but not (name withheld) because she later apologized to me.”
Boye questioned the defendant about the sexual nature of the accusations from the women, to which Bishop Daniels responded that he didn’t know why all the allegations were of a sexual nature.
Furthermore, Boye accused the defendant of using his position as a pastor to manipulate individuals seeking counseling. He posed the question, “You are a man of God. Are you not? A powerful man of God. You get trained to counsel, and you use wisdom and the leading of the spirit to manipulate,” during the cross-examination.
