Lagos State Government Aims To Eradicate Food Wastage by 2024, Unveils Ambitious Food Security Project

The Lagos State Government, under the leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has unveiled its mission to eliminate food wastage in the state by 2024. During the swearing-in ceremony of 37 commissioners and special advisers, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that ensuring food security for residents is a top priority for his second term administration.

This innovative project aims to significantly reduce, if not completely eradicate, the wastage of perishable food items, improve processing and packaging, and enforce quality standards. Furthermore, it is expected to generate higher revenue for local farmers.

In addition to addressing food security, the government has rebranded its Governance Agenda to T.H.E.M.E.S+ to include Social Inclusion, Gender Equality, and Youth Development in all its programs.

This shift underscores the commitment to building a more equitable society where no one is left behind in the journey to a Greater Lagos.

Governor Sanwo-Olu also highlighted ongoing legacy projects in transportation, health, and agriculture that will create new economic and developmental opportunities for the state’s residents.

Notably, the commencement of operations of the Blue Line Rail Service represents a significant milestone in Lagos’s journey to becoming a modern and well-connected city.
