Officials from the enforcement agencies under the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources have intensified efforts to remove banned styrofoam food containers from markets across the state.
In January of this year, the state government imposed a ban on the use of styrofoams, citing environmental concerns caused by the non-biodegradable material, particularly single-use plastics.
Led by the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, the crackdown aims to curb the adverse effects of styrofoam on the environment.
The ongoing raids and confiscations signify the state government’s commitment to enforcing the ban and promoting sustainable practices.
The mopping up exercise underscores the importance of environmental conservation and responsible waste management in Lagos State.
