In an official statement released on Tuesday, LASU management clarified that the certificate had been rendered invalid due to a misspelling of the bearer’s surname. The institution confirmed the existence of the widely circulated certificate, noting its invalidation on February 25, 2013, because of the erroneous spelling of the graduate’s name as ABISOYE instead of ABIOYE.
Furthermore, LASU disclosed that a corrected certificate had been issued on September 30, 2014, which the graduate duly collected. According to university protocols, the invalidated certificate should have been destroyed immediately following re-issuance. The university emphasized that the certificate’s surfacing was a result of inadequate screening of office waste papers before disposal. LASU reiterated its commitment to upholding standards and ensuring the integrity of its certification process
