Latest Cement Prices: Dangote, BUA, And Other Brands For This WeekThe rising price of cement in Nigeria has become a significant concern for consumers and stakeholders in the construction industry. As of November 2024, the cost of cement has seen sharp increases, with several economic factors contributing to these price hikes, including inflation, exchange rates, and production costs.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HEREā–¶

Industry experts attribute the surge in cement prices to a variety of factors, with supply chain disruptions being one of the key drivers. These disruptions have affected the availability of both raw materials and finished products, exacerbating the already strained market.

Another major factor influencing the price increase is the fluctuation of the Nigerian naira against major foreign currencies. Cement production relies heavily on imported raw materials, and as the exchange rate worsens, production costs have risen. Additionally, rising labor costs and inflation have further pressured manufacturers and wholesalers to adjust their prices upwards.

At distribution points, some wholesalers have set prices even higher than the factory rates, placing an additional burden on consumers. This is particularly difficult for individual homebuilders who now find it harder to afford cement for their projects.

Here are the current prices for major cement brands this week:

•Dangote Cement: ₦8,800 per 50kg bag (prices may vary depending on location)

•BUA Cement: ₦8,500 per 50kg bag

•POP Cement (Plaster of Paris White Cement): ₦10,500 per 50kg bag

•Lafarge Cement: ₦8,500 per 50kg bag

•4 Liters Abro Cement for Roofing: ₦32,000

With these continued price increases, the challenges for the construction sector and consumers are expected to persist unless broader economic factors are addressed.
