In a statement issued on Monday by Chibuikem Diala, Director of Media and Publicity for the Senator Athan Achonu Campaign Organisation, the LP.

gubernatorial candidate criticized Uzodinma’s actions, characterizing them as desperate and contrary to democratic principles, all in an effort to secure victory while expending N5 billion of taxpayers’ money.

Achonu pointed out that these developments lend credence to the widespread accusations that Uzodinma is already importing supporters from nearby APC states into Imo State’s capital ahead of the November 11 election, with the intent to stifle opposition and manipulate the outcome.

He also questioned the Governor’s motives in providing accommodation for security personnel assigned to oversee an election in which he himself is a candidate.

Achonu appealed to President Bola Tinubu to consider the concerns of the people of Imo and ensure that the electoral process is conducted fairly in the November 11 Imo gubernatorial election.

The statement read, “As a campaign organization, we find it troubling that the state government, through its tourism ministry, has instructed all hotels in the city to reserve their rooms from November 4 to November 12.” What might be the underlying rationale for this mass reservation of hotel rooms in Owerri?

“With over 1500 hotels in the city, each with an average of 50 rooms, this implies that the state government is attempting to rent and pay for a minimum of 7,000 rooms for eight nights in the city, totaling an extravagant sum of approximately N5 billion. What an extravagant expenditure!
