Law Enforcement Crackdown: FCT Police Apprehend 85 Suspects, Seize Counterfeit Currency

Operatives from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have apprehended a total of 85 individuals for various infractions within the nation’s capital.

In a statement released on Sunday by SP Josephine Adeh, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, it was disclosed that the arrests followed a well-coordinated raid conducted in recognized problem areas and clandestine locations within the Durumi and Dei-Dei vicinities of the FCT.

The detainees were nabbed for a spectrum of transgressions, encompassing the illicit erection of structures, trafficking in narcotics, and the production of fake currency.

The statement detailed the recovery of both counterfeit paper and coin currencies, spanning local and international denominations, alongside the seizure of light arms, eight motorcycles, seven generators, assorted electronic devices, and numerous ATM cards suspected to have been unlawfully obtained.

Assurances were provided by the PPRO that all individuals apprehended would undergo thorough screening procedures, with stringent actions to be taken against those found complicit, including legal prosecution.

Furthermore, the dismantling and destruction of illegal wooden structures constructed by the offenders were carried out as part of the enforcement efforts.

“While investigations are ongoing, Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, psc, mni, extends his commitment to expunging criminal elements from the FCT and safeguarding the well-being of all residents,” emphasized the PPRO.
