Leadership Crisis In Anambra compels My Candidacy – LP Aspirant

An Anambra State-born businessman, Barth Nwibe, has officially announced his intention to contest in the 2025 governorship election on the Labour Party platform.

During a gathering with political stakeholders from the Anambra Central Senatorial District in Awka Etiti, Idemili South Local Government Area on Sunday, Nwibe emphasized the need to address the leadership crisis in the state. He expressed that Anambra requires a humble leader who listens to the people rather than an authoritarian figure disconnected from the needs of the masses.

“I am running for governor of Anambra, and I am here to seek your support,” Nwibe said. “Our society needs restructuring. We lack security, and our youth are leaving the state due to unemployment. If the current governor were performing well, I wouldn’t have felt the need to run. Expectations were high, but unfortunately, very little has been delivered.”

Nwibe further stated that he is committed to serving a four-year term to tackle the pressing challenges in the state, which he described as suffering from insecurity, high youth unemployment, and a lack of strategic development. He noted that Anambra is rich in natural gas, a resource that could drive industrialization, yet remains untapped under the current administration.

He criticized the growing politicization in the state, especially concerning traditional institutions, market associations, and other local leadership roles. “We need to end the system where the governor decides who becomes the traditional ruler or community leader. Everything has become too politicized,” Nwibe remarked.

Highlighting the significant business presence of Anambra citizens in cities like Abuja, Lagos, and Port Harcourt, Nwibe vowed to create job opportunities that would encourage young people to stay and contribute to the state’s development. “Our children are fleeing the state in search of better opportunities.
