According to reports, Shettima will be representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the event. Senegal marks its Independence Day on April 4 each year, celebrating its liberation from French colonial rule in 1960 with ceremonies, parades, and cultural activities.

The Vice President’s presence at the annual celebration follows an invitation from Senegalese President Faye Diomaye, reflecting the strong bilateral ties between Nigeria and Senegal. The event will take place at the Place de la Nation in Dakar, with President Faye hosting Vice President Shettima and other prominent guests from Africa and beyond.

Shettima’s departure comes just 24 hours after President Tinubu embarked on a two-week working visit to France.
